Database

Welcome to the New Art Basics Database, a collection of innovative art education ideas!

These art education teaching strategies and lesson plans were developed by New Art Basics Project members and Iowa State University art education students between 1986 and 2005.

A two decade collaboration of pre-service and in-service art educators and university professors, this database houses art education resources frequently implemented in K-12 schools.  Strategies are no longer being added to the site.

The NAB philosophy and progressive curriculum content areas are described on our website. The curricular emphasis is on creativity, visual thinking and a pluralistic approach to art education. The interactive database allows searching by art media, concept, etc.

Originally, K-12 schools with NAB membership and ISU art education students had exclusive access to these resources. Now the rich legacy of this vibrant community of art educators is available to you.  Enjoy!
