Multiple Intelligences

Emotional Intelligence has been brought to public attention by Daniel Goleman. The skills students need for understanding self awareness, solving problems, managing emotions, and feeling confidence can be strengthened through creating art. Empathy, friendship, and skills that help prevent or overcome hardships can also be fostered in art education. Emotional intelligence is a prerequisite for being able to discover use, and preserve one's cognitive and creative abilities. It is important for educators to start consciously developing emotional skills through art. Thoughtful art education can help students find and believe find and believe in their abilities as well as cope with or reverse limitations.
