Risk Taking

Teaching art, like art as a discipline itself, requires risk taking. To teach a discipline that requires a continual search for new approaches, new perspectives, and new subject matter requires the same of the art educator.

New Art Basics asks teachers for continual learning, growth, and experimentation. Innovating with teaching methodology, experimenting with the relationship between the brain and visual thinking, and exploring the perspectives from throughout the world are necessary for a richer and deeper understanding of the discipline of art.

New Art Basics is not just a book of standard lessons or a set curricular model but a whole new way of thinking about art as a unique and every changing learning discipline. This requires risk taking for the art teacher to become an "educational change agent."
