III. Brain Synchronicity and Creativity
Making the Whole Brain Work Together
Many artists and scientists have talked about the need to get the whole brain integrated, the various functions working together. In terms of the brain-based visual education approach we are taking in the New Art Basics Project, we are working with NAB teachers to find classroom and age appropriate teaching strategies that will:
- Keep the active and imaginative right hemisphere brain processes of childhood alive and growing in complexity, as the student matures.
- Develop a solid and growing experiential understanding of how the right hemispheric processes are foundational for the visual thinking used by artists and other creative thinkers.
- Help students integrate brain functions: left hemispheric and right hemispheric, limbic, associational, and visual decision making.
